Sensory Integration

What’s it all about?

In child therapy, sensory integration involves helping kids build their capacity to effectively process and respond to sensory information.
For example, children with sensory processing difficulties may find it challenging when:
All this can have an impact on their day-to-day functioning and cause difficulties for them.

How does this therapy work?

Sensory integration therapy provides children with structured sensory experiences (in a safe, controlled environment), so they can practice regulating their reactions to sensory input.
Basically, our occupational therapists will create a sensory-rich environment (e.g. with certain sounds / lights / smells / things for them to touch…) and then engage the child in activities to help them process and integrate this sensory information more effectively.
The ultimate goal is for your child to be able to participate in everyday activities and interactions with more ease!
